Day 1 - Sunday, July 30

Warm up loop…

Thonen-les-Bains => Col du Corbier => Pont du Diable Gorge => Thonen-les-Bains
HC Bike Tours’ team will meet you at the airport in the morning. From there, you will be provided with a transportation to the start of your cycling challenge - Thonon-les-Bains in France. A bit later, our team will help you to set up your bicycle and we are off for a warm-up ride to Col du Corbier and to explore Pont du Diable Gorge. It’s time for dinner rich of carbs to get ready for the challenge.

Let’s start the Grandes Alpes challenge

Thonen-les-Bains => Col de Cou => Col de la Colombiere => La Clusaz
Breakfast and off we go for the Challenge. We will start with Col de Cou climb and have coffee stop in a village on the other side of this climb before we hit Col de la Colombiere. This is one of our favorite climbs in the Alps. Tour de France visited it last time in Y2016. We will stay in an alpine village of La Clusaz.

Col de la Madeleine and more…

La Clusaz => Col des Aravis => Col des Saisies => Col de la Madeleine => La Chambre
It is going to be a challenging ride but not the hardest one. We will start with a gentle and stunning climb - Col des Aravis. Next two climbs are quite popular because of the Tour. Col de la Madeleine is our favorite climb of today with the dramatic views to the Mont-Blanc. But before ride up there, we will stop in Albertville for a cup of coffee.

The most famous climb – Alpe d’Huez

La Chambre => Col du Glandon => Alpe d’Huez => Col de Sarenne => La Grave
Get ready for a climbing festival. Famous Col du Glandon is the first climb of today followed by Alpe d’Huez with its extension to Col de Sarenne. We will stop in the lovely town of Le Bourg-d'Oisans to chill out and get ready for second climb - Alpe d’Huez. Another alpine village - La Grave is our today`s destination.

Let’s move forward with three more legendary climbs of the Tour. Col du Lautaret and Col du Galibier - both have featured in the Tour almost every year and should be already marked on your bucket list. Before our last climb of today, we will take a break in the highest town above the sea level in France – Briancon. And the last climb Col d’Izoard is another legendary climb of the Tour and one of our favorite climbs. Let`s have great dinner in a selected restaurant tonight.

Banon => Nesque Gorge => Mont Ventoux => Malaucène
Grande finale of your trip is going to be fantastic! We will start today`s ride through very scenic Provence with its lavender fields and Nesque Gorge. Your final climb of this tour will be the most epic climb of the Tour – Mont Ventoux. We will ride its most famous side and go down on the other side. If you wish, you will be able to ride it twiceJ Well done! It`s time for farewell dinner and a glass of wine.

We know what the best ride support is. Get on your bike and enjoy the ride! We do the rest:
  • We are ex-Pro riders, professional coaches, mechanics, experienced Ride Leaders. We will provide you with professional support, guide and encourage you through every ride, even make photos, be your coaches and make sure you have the best picnic stops in the world
  • We ride in small ride-groups of up to 7 riders per group, which allows us to keep the group together and provide full support with less waiting time
  • Each ride-group is led by an HC Bike Tours Ride Leader and one SAG van per ride-group is provided
  • If you become tired at any point, you have an option to use van transfer
  • An experienced mechanic will be available to assist in case of trouble with your bike
  • We will provide you with on-road supplements including local fresh bread, cheese, meet, fruit, snacks, energy bars, and drinks will be available any time
