Cycling Epic Rides in Gran Canaria
This year, we reunited with NRG Athletes from Canada for another unforgettable cycling adventure – this time in the breathtaking landscapes of Gran Canaria. After the success of our 2024 trip to Portugal, we were thrilled to team up again for another epic ride. And now it’s official—next year, we’re heading to Mallorca!
The Highlights
Our home base was the beautiful Don Gregory Hotel in Maspalomas, offering dedicated bike storage and a perfect meeting space for our pre-dinner briefings. Some of the standout moments of the trip included:
- The valley of Tears: A legendary climb that tested our legs and rewarded us with stunning views.
- Soria peak: A hidden gem with twisty roads and panoramic views.
- Pico de las nieves: The highest point on the island and the crown jewel of Gran Canaria’s climbs.
Nearly each morning of our athletes began with a refreshing swim in the sea, just steps from the hotel – an energizing start to the day.
The Experience
Over the course of nine days, we explored some of Gran Canaria’s most spectacular terrain. From steep climbs to coastal descents, every ride brought something unique.
The HC Bike Tours team – led by HC ride leader Aigars, HC co-ride leader Toms, NRG ride leader Nigel, our SAG support drivers, and Sony Award-nominated sports photographer Maris (@marvan.photograf) – ensured every detail was taken care of. From airport transfers to expert route guidance and real-time support on the road, we provided a seamless experience so guests could focus on what they love most: riding.
Looking ahead
We fell in love with Gran Canaria’s epic rides and warm hospitality. Next year, we’re bringing the adventure to Mallorca (our usual base) for exploring some of the most scenic cycling routes in Europe.
